The tennis star from Castellón recently won the Davis Cup with Spain
Deserved recognition. Villarreal CF will pay tribute to the tennis player from Castellón, Roberto Bautista, who this Friday, will carry out the honorary kick-off before the match between Villarreal CF and Atlético Madrid at the Estadio de la Cerámica (9pm CET). Bautista belongs to the Endavant Esports project.
Bautista has had a great 2019. The provincial tennis star is now in the ATP World Top Ten after a season full of success, including the Doha Open and reaching the Wimbledon semi-finals. As a child, he played in the Yellows Academy, but ended up choosing tennis.
Davis Cup champion
Recently, Bautista was crowned Davis Cup champion and took the sixth title for Spain in a memorable final. The tennis player from Castellón was part of the victory after beating Auger-Alissaime 7-6 (3), 6-3 in an hour and 49 minutes. He shared the victory with Rafa Nadal, Feliciano López, Pablo Carreño and Marcel Granollers.
The last few weeks have been emotionally intense for Bautista, with the passing of his father. Last weekend, he also got married to Ana Bodí.
