Villarreal’s Brazilian striker predicts a “very tough” match against Málaga

Leo Baptistao knows what must be done to guarantee the fourth place finish and qualify for next year’s UEFA Champions League. The Brazilian striker recognises that home matches in El Madrigal will be fundamental: “We know that in this second round of fixtures we have to be strong at home. They are really important because we have some really difficult away games. We’re ready to face the games that we have left”.

The Submarine’s next rival is Málaga (Saturday, 18:15 CET). “It’s a very important and difficult game as Málaga are coming to us on a good run. We know that we have to be sharp and focused on winning. In our last game against Málaga they created many problems for us and we were a bit lucky, despite the fact that I do think we were the better side. They’ve signed some good players and have another dynamic now”, Baptistao commented.

According to the Yellow number 10, the point gap, above fifth place, is big but not definitive: “Eight points is a great gap above a rival like Sevilla. Nobody expected us to have so many points and we’re really happy. We have to keep going like this to get further and further away from those on our heels”.

To conclude, Leo Baptistao recognised the fact that as more players are getting back to fitness this will benefit the Submarine enormously: “Now we’re going to have fresh and hungry players. Surely this will help us avoid another slump. We have to keep improving and be ambitious”.
