The French-Congolese striker has scored 44 goals in a Yellow shirt

Villarreal CF’s French-Congolese forward, Cédric Bakambu, has joined the select club of players that have played 100 or more official matches wearing Yellow. Bakambu came on in the 59th minute of the UEFA Europa League match against FC Astana in Kazakhstan tonight which was his 100th match for the Yellow Submarine.  

Cédric Bakambu has become the Submarine’s ‘goal machine’ since he arrived at the club back in August 2015 from Turkish side Bursaspor. In the two seasons since his arrival, the French-Congolese forward has been the top goal scorer for Villarreal CF. In the 2015/16 season he scored 22 goals, and in the 2016/17 season he scored 11 goals. So far, Bakambu has netted 11 goals in the current campaign, making him the team’s leading goal scorer for the third consecutive season as it stands. During his time at Villarreal CF, Bakambu has scored 44 goals and provided 6 assists for his teammates.
