Another final against Real Oviedo
Another final against Real Oviedo

Villarreal B visit the Carlos Tartiere this Sunday at 6:30pm CET

Villarreal B head coach Miguel Álvarez appeared at the press conference ahead of another ‘final’ in LALIGA HYPERMOTION for survival. The Mini Submarine will face Real Oviedo, who are two points off the play-off zone, this Sunday at 6:30pm CET at the Estadio Carlos Tartiere.

Here is what he had to say:

The team’s form

“The team is in very good shape. Logically on Monday we were affected after the effort against Leganés, after putting in so much effort and not getting any points. But we are focused, working and preparing for the game as well as possible.”

Real Oviedo

“Our opponents changed their head coach some time ago. When they came here they showed what kind of team they are, but now they are more established. They have strengthened well in the winter and Cazorla is there too. It will be difficult there with their fans. Even if we suffer, because they have a great team and a very good run of form, I’m optimistic that we’ll get something.”

Aims for every team

“Every week we have to compete at a high level against teams that are at a very good level. We are going to fight until the end for what we want, which is to stay in this division.”

Only three points deep in the relegation zone

“The team on a football level, we know what penalises us and what doesn’t, like in the penalty areas. We will fight until the end. The games against Albacete, Amorebieta and Alcorcón are undoubtedly going to be very important because of what they mean.”

Fewer absentees

“We have Carlo, Pablo, Novoa back for sure; although Stefan is missing. When you’re in a B team, the sadness of one is the joy of another. For example, we have Pau, who is a boy who can bring us a lot. Tiago the other day put in a great performance, he played a sensational game. With what we have, we’re going to compete. There are no excuses. We have to get out of this situation with what we have. The important thing is that they’re working brilliantly and we’ll be with them until the end. I think we’re giving a good feeling about the way we’re playing, although we undoubtedly need to improve in some areas. We’re not going to give up looking for solutions to make us more competitive.”

Álex Millán

“The worst thing for a player is a long-term injury. When they are here we try to make them emotionally strong, to be able to manage any situation so that there is no frustration. The one who is able to understand that that moment is an opportunity to improve, like Ortega or Hugo. Here they have a team alongside them to become strong in other aspects. In Millán’s case, we know he is a professional and very strong.”
