Trigueros said the team was left with a “bittersweet taste” after drawing to SK Slavia Prague

Villarreal CF centre midfielder, Manu Trigueros, said the team was left with a “bittersweet taste” in their mouths after last night’s draw against SK Slavia Prague in the third match of the Group stage in the UEFA Europa League. The Yellow Submarine went down 0-2 early on at the Estadio de la Cerámica, but pulled two goals back in quick succession through Trigueros himself and Carlos Bacca, just before the break. “We were left with a bittersweet taste because we wanted to win. We did the hard part, which was to come back and equalise after losing 0-2, but then we couldn’t find a way to score the third”.

The Yellows number 14 added: “We had chances to score, to make the comeback, but we couldn’t do it and are disappointed not to come away with the three points”. With regard to his goal that opened Villarreal’s account, he said, “I was happy to be able to help the team and boost the team and the fans’ morale and confidence”.

Looking ahead to the Yellows’ upcoming league match against Las Palmas (Sunday, 12pm CEST), the midfielder affirmed: “Sunday’s match is very important because it gives us the chance to establish ourselves definitively in the top zone of the table, in European positions. So we’re going to attack the Las Palmas goal and go all out for the three points”.
