The midfielder has extended his contract with Villarreal CF for a further three seasons

Villarreal CF have reached an agreement with Álex Baena to renew his contract until June 2028. The midfielder from Almeria, whose contract with the Yellows was due to expire in 2025, will remain with the Submarine for a further three seasons.

Álex Baena, exceptional talent and a yellow heart

Álex Baena (Roquetas de Mar, 20/07/2001) is a skilful midfielder with vision, and a great vision with the ball. The player from Almeria has established himself in the first team this season after a successful loan spell at Girona FC, with whom he won promotion to the top flight. Prior to this successful spell at Montilivi, Baena was part of the historic Yellows squad that lifted the UEFA Europa League title in 2021.

The Andalusian footballer is one of the greatest talents that the Yellows Academy has produced. He arrived in Villarreal’s youth system in 2012 to join the ranks of the U12s (Alevín A). In the 2018/19 season, he led the U19s (Juvenil A) to win the first Youth Copa del Rey in the club’s history, as well as the league championship.

The footballer is currently a Spain U21s international. He’s also played for his country at U19 and U17 level.
