Álex Baena is kicking the door down. The young midfielder led Villarreal’s victory over Hapoel Be’er Sheva (1-2) with a spectacular goal. A fantastic performance in which, as well as scoring the second goal, he caused the penalty with which José Luis Morales opened the scoring in Israeli territory.
Baena’s sensational start to the current campaign goes beyond Thursday’s match. The Almeria-born player has already scored five goals in his first nine official matches.
On the first day of the league, the Yellows No.16 surprised everyone by scoring a brace in just 27 minutes against Real Valladolid. He again took advantage of the opportunity given to him by Unai Emery against Lech Poznan, scoring another two goals and leading the team against the Polish side.
