The Valencian defender positively assesses the first few weeks of Villarreal’s pre-season
Four from four. Villarreal have won every one of their pre-season friendlies so far, and for Raúl Albiol, it is very positive to be in such a good place while preparing for the season: “Against Köln, it was a tough match because we came up against a good opponent and what’s more, with the rain, the pitch wasn’t at its best. It’s always positive to win, even if it is in pre-season, to build up for LaLiga. Hopefully we continue this path. I’m happy for the group,” he commented.
For the defender, the Yellow Submarine are continuing to adapt: “It’s important to have various ways of playing. Matches can get difficult and at times you have to find other solutions. Having players with diverse characteristics is very positive. We will work on our virtues and we will also try and improve our weaknesses.”
On a personal level, Albiol underlined that he was grateful for the reception he has received: “I’m very good. I want to thank everyone for the reception they’ve given me. I’m happy with this new adventure. Hopefully we can have a great season.”
The aim is clear. “It’s important to get used to winning and find a playing identity. We want to be a compact team with clear ideas. Winning will only increase the team’s confidence. We’re on the right path, but what is important starts with the first LaLiga match,” he concluded.
