Albiol: “The team is now on the right track”

The Yellows’ captain has reviewed the team’s current situation and analysed Getafe, the Submarine’s next opponents

Villarreal CF defender Raúl Albiol appeared before the media in the press room at the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground to analyse the team’s situation and to talk about the important match that awaits the Submarine this Friday against Getafe (9pm CET, Estadio de la Cerámica).

Villarreal have not lost since 13th January against UD Las Palmas, a statistic that demonstrates the Submarine’s improvement in terms of play and feeling and about which Albiol explains: “The team is now the right track. We’ve improved physically and increased our intensity, which means we’re closer to winning, as we’ve seen in the last few games.”

This Friday Villarreal have another chance to get back to winning ways at La Cerámica, something vital for the team to change the dynamic and look up in the standings. “It’s true that we’re struggling at home, but this Friday we have another chance against a very competitive team,” said the Yellow captain.

Facing them will be Bordalás’ Getafe, a head coach who, as Albiol assures us, makes his players believe firmly in his idea and makes them “a difficult team to beat.”

Asked what will be essential to beat a team that, after winning their last game against RC Celta (3-2), are close to the European places, the Vilamarxant native insists: “We must go out from the first minute with the intensity and speed that the game will have. We have to be strong and start well to get the crowd going. This week we will analyse our opponents and prepare the game with the coach to win it.”

Finally, Raúl Albiol appealed to the fans to be with the team this Friday: “We have to win at home and for that we need our fans, as they have been doing, to cheer us on for the whole 90 minutes. We will do our best to win and give them the joy they deserve. Taking the three points on Friday would change the dynamic and help us face the following games with greater confidence.”
