Goals from Carlo Adriano and Tiago Geralnik settled the match against Hannover 96 U23s
Villarreal B came out victorious in their third pre-season match against Hannover 96 U23s at the German club’s training ground. Carlo Adriano’s goal in the first half and Tiago Geralnik’s goal in the second half decided a match in which the Yellows were clearly superior.
The match could not have started in a better way for Miguel Álvarez’s men. In the 14th minute of the game, Carlo Adriano, captain of the Mini Submarine today, stole a ball on the edge of the area and then slotted it into the back of the net with a powerful shot from the halfway line of the area.
Villarreal B were able to control the tempo of the game and went into the changing rooms with an early lead thanks to Carlo Adriano’s goal.
Miguel Álvarez made a number of changes in the second half, something that the coach from Jaén had already done in the last two games and which is usual and necessary in pre-season games for the players to gain confidence and experience. Only Espigares played the full 90 minutes.
Not even five minutes into the second half had been played when Tiago Geralnik brought his immense quality to the fore with a well-placed shot from the edge of the area to make it 0-2 to the Yellows.
Hannover had their moments and came close to pulling one back in the second half, but they came up against an inspired Rubén Gómez who, in the same move, pulled off a triple save to prevent the German goal.
In the end, Villarreal B picked up their second win of the pre-season with a 2-0 victory over Hannover 96 U23s with goals from Carlo Adriano and Tiago Geralnik.
Villarreal B, after their time in Switzerland and Germany, will return to Spain to continue their preparations for the 2023/24 season. The Yellows’ next game will take place on Wednesday 26th July against CE Sabadell at 7opm CEST at the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground.
