Fornals, scorer of the game-winning goal, analysed Villarreal’s victory at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium

A goal to remember. Castellón born midfielder Pablo Fornals wrote his name in the Villarreal record books by netting the game-winning goal in last Saturday’s victory over Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium. In the final moments of the match, the number 8 scored a perfectly weighted lob from the edge of the box to give Villarreal their first ever win at Real Madrid’s legendary stadium, the Santiago Bernabéu. “In that moment, time stood still. The ball looked like it wasn’t going in. Keylor Navas reacted very quickly and almost saved it. When the ball went in, we all went crazy celebrating”, Fornals described.

The skilful Yellows midfielder is one of Javi Calleja’s key players this season. As well as being the second Submarine player to have played the most minutes in all competitions this season (2,105 minutes) and the third player with the most assists in LaLiga (6), in the last couple of matches he has also got himself on the score sheet, scoring decisive goals at the Balaídos and at Santiago Bernabéu stadiums.
