The Yellows beat CD Castellón to reach the COTIF final
Villarreal Women passed the first test of the pre-season with flying colours. The team coached by Sara Monforte defeated CD Castellón (0-6) and booked their place in the final of COTIF, which will be held this Sunday and which will pit them against the winner of match between Levante and Elche.
The Submarine took the lead thanks to a superb free-kick from Tere Morató, who tore the cobwebs out of the goalmouth with an impeccable strike. Little else happened in the first half of a game that saved the best for the second act.
The return to the pitch after the break was frenetic. Sara Monforte brought on Kanteh, Lucía Romero and M. Llompart, among others, who increased the pace of the game and led to a raining of goals in L’Alcudia.
Lucía Romero scored a brace, Fatou Kanteh showed herself to be a fantastic assist provider and was also rewarded with a goal, and the midfielder from Barcelona rounded off the scoring by capitalising on a mistake by her opponents.
The next friendly will be this Sunday against the winner of the match between Levante and Elche.
