The Yellows side, formed this year, is top of its league, with a young base and an attacking style

The Ladies C team is dreaming big in its first few months of life. This side, born from Villarreal’s firm backing for women’s football, is dominating Group 1 of the feminine Segunda Regional league. With seven victories and two draws in nine matches, they are top of a competitive league.

“The first competitive months have been positive, frankly. We are a newly created team this year and we are formed by young players who have come from youth level and are now getting used to a harder level of amateur football which needs more experience. Despite the change, the players are showing a great level of football, which is helping us top the table,” explains coach David García.

The philosophy of this young and exciting team is the same as the rest of the Yellow Submarine youth teams. They are committed to a silky style of football: “We have a very offensive way of playing. We’re a team that likes to play with the ball and rob it back quickly when we don’t have it. We press really high up with the aim of getting the ball as close as possible to the goal.”

Despite being a team created this season, its members have a lot of experience with Villarreal youth football: “It’s a group formed of U15s and U16s, as well as some U17s, U18s and U19s, but they’ve all been wearing the Villarreal shirt for years. We haven’t brought in anyone from elsewhere. The club wants to give continuity to the girls who’ve been with us for a while,” adds García.

The Ladies C team have found themselves in an unbeatable situation so far. They have just one match left of the first round of fixtures, and they are among the teams that look like they will fight for promotion to Primera Regional. Despite that, for García, the team’s objectives are a lot more than just that: “For us, we have two main aims. The first is forming players. We want to achieve improvement for the girls day by day, and that they can, with time, move up to the B team and then the first team. We also want to propel Villarreal women’s football to the top. The first team is fighting for promotion, the B team could be in the Segunda División where the first team are and, as a newly-formed team, we have a lot of room for growing and the possibility to be promoted through the leagues.”

The ‘groguet side’ are trained by David García Broch and Clara Martínez, and are made up of the following footballers: Anna Adell, Claudia Baila, Nuria Barrera, Catalina Cosma, Nuria García, Sonia Llop, Irene Miguelez, Irene Monfort, Marta Querol, Carla Sastre, Vera Vicent, Raquel Almela, Elisa Barberán, Claudia Chust, Marta Durá, Eva Gil, Gracia Mariner, Esther Mollón, Marta Ortells, Vera Rico and Silvia Tomás.
