Trigueros stresses the team have “chances to do something special” in LaLiga and Europe

After the league break and the weekend of international fixtures, Villarreal centre midfielder, Manu Trigueros, analysed the upcoming matches and the feeling in the squad as they face the end of the season. According to Trigueros, the team has returned with charged batteries and ready to finish the job in what has been a brilliant season: “We’ve all come back with renewed strength and energy. We know the final stretch of the season is very important for us. In Europe we have the chance to do something special and we’re in an optimal position to finish this great season strong and put the cherry on top of everything we’ve done”.

Trigueros also spoke about the next league game against SD Eibar (Sunday 3rd April, 6:15pm CET, Estadio de Ipurua): “The manager is instilling in us that there is no other option but to win in Ipurua because after we have a home match and we have to get the maximum points possible so we don’t have to suffer at the end of the season”.

The number 14 for the Submarine also expressed his excitement for the next Europa League match, in which the Yellows will face Sparta Prague (Thursday 7th April, 9:05pm CET, El Madrigal stadium) in the first leg of the Quarter-finals: “I can’t wait and I’m really motivated to get to a Europa League final with the great teams that are still alive in the competition and the great teams we’ve left behind. The team, the fans and the town of Villarreal are all as excited as each other”.

Trigueros believes the Czechs are strong and effective attacking wise, which is why Villarreal will not be able to lose focus at any moment. “The manager has already seen quite a few of their matches and has told us we must be careful and we can’t relax because they get a lot of numbers forward. So we will have to be alert to make sure we don’t have to suffer and can get a good result in El Madrigal”.

To finish, the Yellows centre midfielder wanted to highlight his team’s great work rate. “This year we’ve faced everything head on, we’ve racked up some great numbers and we don’t want to waste everything in this final stretch of the season”.
