Villarreal legends make us smile again

The match between Yellows and Spain legends was settled by Catanha for the national team (0-1)

A Yellow party. An afternoon for history and to once again enjoy the legends that have made Villarreal great in recent times. Riquelme, Forlán, Palermo, Bruno, Senna and many more once again donned the Submarine shirt to make us enjoy their talent.

Yellow fans could dream again. Riquelme played again with Forlán, El Matador appeared again to rise up in the area and Bruno and Senna teamed up for the last time in the centre of the pitch to relive the greatest afternoons of football at the Estadio de la Cerámica.

On the footballing side, Villarreal started by taking control of the ball and with a large presence in the opposition half. Forlán gave the team wings with his runs, while Palermo decisively finished off any ball from the flank. Juan Román Riquelm, looked for his two favourite historical partners with passes into space.

However, Spain legends, more compact and tighter at the back, waited for their chance and from a cross found the opening goal. Catanha headed straight into the net, impossible for Andrés Palop to stop.

In the second half, the Yellows tried everything they could. With the introduction of Cani, Víctor, Musacchio, Coloccini, Héctor Font and Xisco, among others, the team regained colour and persistently sought the rival goal. They came close on several occasions, but the goal was not forthcoming. The match ended 0-1 in favour of Spain legends, although the result was undoubtedly the least important thing in the Submarine’s big party.

Sempre Endavant!
