Journalists and sponsors took part in a game with players from the Yellows’ intellectually-disabled teams

The Villarreal CF Training Ground (Ciudad Deportiva) hosted the most special of games today! Various journalists who cover Villarreal, as well as sponsors, enjoyed an afternoon of football with players from the intellectually-disabled teams (EDI – ‘Escuela de Discapacitados Intelectuales’) to give visibility to the side ahead of their upcoming season. The four games that took place were great preparation for their footballers ahead of the competition that takes place in Salou on 13th and 14th November, as the end of the 20/21 club season.

With the aim of integrating all Yellows, Villarreal CF launched its EDI project in the 2015/16 season. The Submarine currently has three EDI teams made up of footballers with intellectual disabilities, which within the framework of sporting activity and with the aim of offering players an enjoyable time, generates identification with the colours of the club and the Villarreal CF brand. The three EDI teams train twice a week at the Villarreal CF Training Ground and are integrated in the Yellows Academy structure. They take part in the largest social responsibility competition nationally, the pioneering LaLiga Genuine, where they compete against other intellectually-disabled teams from Spanish professional clubs.
