Chapter 10 of ‘Centenary Memories’ looks back at the Submarine’s return to professional football in 1992

Villarreal CF has published the tenth instalment of the series ‘Memorias del Centenario’ (‘Centenary Memories’). The chapter recalls Villarreal CF’s last promotion to the second division, which was no less than 31 years ago at the end of June and which took place in La Línea de la Concepción with the Rock of Gibraltar in the background.

After returning to the second tier, the Submarine stayed there until the heroic feat of promotion to the top flight in 1997/98.

This short report focuses on the voices of Julián García Candau, a prestigious journalist from Vila-real, as well as three of the main stars of that promotion: Esteban Linares, head coach, and the two former players Adriano García and Estanis Salvador.

Below, you can enjoy this short audiovisual piece, part of ‘Centenary Memories’, a series of reports that uncover and review some of the highlights of the 100 years of Villarreal CF’s history.
