The Submarine took part in the final stage of the season in Tarragona

A great weekend for Villarreal’s intellectual disability (EDI – ‘Escuela de Discapacitados Intelectuales) team! They took part in the last stage of LaLiga Genuine Santander season in Tarragona, with Gimnàstic as the host. The Yellows were victorious in their three matches, ending a season which lasted nearly 24 months due to COVID-19. These are the results for the side coached by Sonia Alcón, Ana Roig, Natalia Miró and Toni Jiménez.

Values such as respect, team spirit and sportsmanship took centre stage at the weekend, with 42 teams taking part, made up of more than 1000 players and coaching staff, who got together on the weekend of 12th, 13th and 14th November to enjoy the Genuine experience once more. A number of friends, families and general football fans were also there, so they didn’t miss this special date. Villarreal legend, and current member of the club’s Instititional Relations department, Marcos Senna, was also at the tournament as a LaLiga ambassador.

The Villarreal EDI team will continue to compete in LaLiga Genuine, which will be made up of three weekends with dates and locations to be confirmed, where the stars of this extraordinary tournament will continue to enjoy football. The organization will confirm the relevant information in the coming weeks.
