The CEO underlines that Villarreal are keen on doing well in Europe
Villarreal CF CEO, Fernando Roig Negueroles, analysed the current situation regarding the Yellows in front of the media at the Castellón Airport fourth anniversary commemorative ceremony. The Yellows board member underlined Villarreal’s wishes to do well in European competition: “Our objective is to get as far as possible in the Europa League. We are keen on staying alive in Europe, and because of that, we will go out to compete and try and beat Zenit over the two legs.”
Roig Negueroles underlined the quality of the Russian side’s footballers: “At this stage in the competition, all the teams are strong. Zenit is a very good team, who are having a great year and are top of the Russian league.”
Furthermore, in regards to the league, the Villarreal CEO underlined his belief that the team will get out of the current situation towards the bottom of the table: “We didn’t get the result we wanted this weekend, but there is still a third of the season left and we’re convinced that we will get out of this situation, fighting in each one of the the twelve matches left until the end of the season.”
Finally, Roig Negueroles called for unity between the club, the team and the fans to move up the table: “It hasn’t been a good year. We didn’t expect it. We’d had a lot of good years in a row. This year, the team isn’t where we want it to be, but all together we need to fight to resolve this situation.”
