Bakambu shone for the DR Congo scoring a brace against the Congo (3-1)

Five Villarreal players went on international duty once the season finished with the Submarine. Bakambu, Jonathan dos Santos and Rukavina, as well as new signings Enes Ünal and Rúben Semedo have represented their respective countries. The Mexican, the Serbian and the French-Congolese all started their matches played last weekend.

Cédric Bakambu had a brilliant match for the Democratic Republic of the Congo against the Congo (3-1) in which he scored a brace. For his part, Jonathan dos Santos played 77 minutes in Mexico’s draw against the United States (1-1) at the Azteca stadium, while the Serbian defender played the full 90 minutes in the match that finished in a draw against Wales (1-1), played in Belgrade.

For his part, the Yellows’ brand new signing, Enes Ünal, did not step on the field in his country’s victory over Turkey against Kosovo (1-4), but he did participate in the goalless draw against Macedonia. The young Villarreal forward played the first 45 minutes up front for Turkey. Next up is Portuguese defender Rúben Semedo, who will play in the U21 European Championships very soon.
