Five Villarreal players will be involved in the 2022 Qatar World Cup

We will have Villarreal representation at the 2022 Qatar World Cup! Pau Torres and Yeremy Pino, with Spain; Nico Jackson, with Senegal; and Juan Foyth and Gero Rulli, with Argentina; will be involved in the World Cup, which will take place from 20th November to 18th December. The five footballers will be involved in the international tournament for the first time as they hope to lift the most prestigious trophy a national team could win.

Spain (Pau Torres and Yeremy Pino)

La Roja will be part of Group E, alongside Costa Rica, Germany and Japan. Pau Torres, who was part of the Spain squad at Euro 2020, has 21 caps and a goal for his country. Yeremy Pino has six matches behind him, and also has scored once.

Before the tournament kicks off, they will face two friendlies against Jordan (17th November) and Costa Rica (23rd November).

The matches Spain will be involved in during the World Cup group stage are the following (times in  CET):

  • Spain vs Costa Rica: Wednesday 23rd November, 5pm, Al Thumama Stadium.
  • Spain vs Germany: Sunday 27th November, 8pm, Al Bayt Stadium.
  • Japan vs Spain: Thursday 1st December, 8pm, Khalifa International Stadium.

Argentina (Juan Foyth and Gero Rulli)

Argentina, drawn in Group C, will face Saudi Arabia, Mexico and Poland. Gero Rulli has represented his country seven times, while Juan Foyth has 15 caps for the Albiceleste.

Before the World Cup, Lionel Scaloni’s side will face United Arab Emirates in a friendly match (16th November).

The matches Argentina will be involved in during the World Cup group stage are the following (times in CET):

  • Argentina vs Saudi Arabia: Tuesday 22nd November, 11am, Lusail Iconic Stadium.
  • Argentina vs Mexico: Saturday 26th November, 8pm, Lusail Iconic Stadium.
  • Poland vs Argentina: Wedneday 30th November, 8pm, Stadium 974.

Senegal (Nico Jackson)

Nico Jackson, who was called up for his country for the first time in September, is part of the Senegalese squad who will face host nation Qatar, Ecuador and the Netherlands in Group A.

The matches that Senegal will be involved in during the World Cup group stage are the following (times in CET).

  • Senegal vs Netherlands: Monday 21st November, 5pm, Al Thumama Stadium.
  • Qatar vs Senegal: Friday 25th November, 2pm, Al Thumama Stadium.
  • Ecuador vs Senegal, Tuesday 29th November, 4pm, Khalifa International Stadium.
