The academy player and the club part ways after more than a decade together

Villarreal CF and Pablo Íñiguez part ways after more than a decade together. The centre-back forged in the Yellows Academy puts an end to his time at the Submarine after a career marked by various successes at the club of his life.

Pablo Íñiguez, an academy legend

Pablo Íñiguez de Heredia Larraz (Valencia, 20th January 1994) joined the Yellows Academy in 2004. The Valencian player took his first steps in the club at U12 level and, thanks to his good football and professionalism, he progressed through the ranks and progressed through the ranks with the Yellows until he reached professional football.

In addition to immersing himself in the philosophy and values of the club to grow as a professional and as a person, Pablo Íñiguez’s more than ten years at Villarreal helped him to receive, in 2014, the prestigious Submarine, which is only acquired by players who have been with the club for a decade.

Iñiguez, who has also played for other clubs such as Girona, Hércules and Rayo Vallecano, among others, fulfilled his dream of making his debut with the first team, with whom he played 12 times (seven games in the Second Division, three in LaLiga and two in the Copa del Rey).

The figure of Pablo Íñiguez is such that the Valencian defender is the second player with the most appearances in the history of Villarreal B with 133. Only Kiko Olivas with 146 games played surpasses him.

And among all of Iñiguez’s sporting successes at the Submarine, the promotion to the Spanish Second Division, which he achieved with the Yellows during the 2021/22 season after beating Logroñés and Nàstic de Tarrragona in the promotion play-off, undoubtedly stands out and allowed him to defend, for two more seasons, the Villarreal badge at the highest level of football.
