Villarreal comes back against Rayo after losing by 0-2 in an extraordinary match
Villarreal and Rayo offered an impressive show on the pitch of El Madrigal stadium, where the Yellows worked very hard for the victory after initially losing by 0-2. Marcelino’s men ended up winning by 4-2 in a game full of excitement and scoring chances with very good last thirty minutes of football. Villarreal, with goals by Espinosa, Musacchio and Vietto (2), secured the three points and gets 7 out of 12 points, confirming a great season start.
With a nice and appealing game, both teams entertained the fans since the very beginning. Villarreal, mastering the passing game, while Rayo stole the ball frequently on midfield and exploited their wingmen’s skills. Both sides had their chances. Espinosa had the first clear scoring chance for the Submarine around the 11th minute, while Cheryshev enjoyed another one some minutes later. But Rayo wasn’t feeling unconfortable at all and on the 20th minute, Kakuta scored for the Madrid side.
The situation got more difficult when around the 28th minute Rayo scored after a good fastbreak, leading by 0-2. This goal made Villarreal react, triggering a bunch of scoring chances. On the 32nd minute Espinosa managed to score the 1-2, and many more chances for Cheryshev and Uche made the fans believe a come back was possible.
After the half time break, Villarreal kept pushing hard. The Yellows started to feel more and more comfortable on the pitch and the reward was close. On the 62nd Musacchio, one of the men of the match, scored the equalizer with a great header. The Submarine was now totally focused on the victory. Around the 74th minute Cheryshev served a great ball to Vietto that scored the third and some minutes later, in similar conditions scored his second goal for the final 4-2.
