The B team head coach spoke of the importance of being faithful to their style of play when they visit Alcoyano on Sunday, 5pm CEST

Villarreal B coach Miguel Álvarez analysed the match against CD Alcoyano, corresponding to Matchday 29 of the Primera RFEF, which will take place this Sunday at 5pm CEST at El Collao. These are the standout statements from the Mini Submarine boss:

Rival and difficult ground

“It’s a very important game for both teams. We want to stay at the top and they want to stay in the play-off places. Alcoyano are always a very difficult team and they have a very difficult ground to play at because of the atmosphere.”

Staying true to our style

“We are two different teams, each with their own style. They are very strong in direct play, second balls and set pieces. When we have visited El Collao in recent years we have shown a lot of character. We’ve remained faithful to our style and we’ve done well on this very difficult ground, so we have to stick to our style.”

Final stretch of the season

“The moment of truth has arrived. So far the boys have had a great season, we have secured safety and we are in the play-off places. It’s been a very good season, but if we want to make it even better we have to keep fighting. Every game is more complicated, but they are all good games to play.”

A very competitive league

“Every week there are close encounters. Every game you can drop points because the teams at the bottom are also very tough. It’s been like that all season, but in this second round it’s becoming more important. Any team can beat anyone.”
