Villarreal bag their 250th victory in the First Division by beating Osasuna at El Madrigal

Pure magic and complete control of the game. Villarreal picked up their 250th victory in the First Division after beating Osasuna at El Madrigal, in a match where the Yellows got off to a blistering start, putting on a real show by scoring three goals in the first half. Then in the second, Fran Escribá’s side had control over their opponents, but still had the rival’s goal in sight (3-1).

The Submarine had a spectacular first half. In fact, it took them just five minutes to go in front on the score board. Trigueros played an excellent pass over the back line to Castillejo and the number 19 put in a brilliant cross straight to Pato who headed home with conviction.

Fran Escribá’s side were on form and their great play was producing goals. The 2-0 came from the penalty spot. Soriano was taken down after he skipped past Osasuna goalkeeper Mario who pulled him down in the box, and captain Bruno took charge again. The number 21 sent the goalkeeper the wrong way and put the Yellows further ahead.

The Yellows were on fire and the third goal soon found the net. It was Samu Castillejo again, who set up Sansone this time with a brilliant through ball and the Italian-German forward finished in style, dinking the ball over the keeper who slid at his feet.

When it seemed like the first half had finished 3-0, Osasuna pulled one back. Álvaro committed a penalty on Sergio León and Roberto Torres converted from the spot just before the break.

In the second half, Villarreal controlled the match, with one eye on the Osasuna goal. The Yellows could have enxtended their lead on occasions and Osasuna had chances too, but they could not find the back of the net due to Sergio Asenjo’s fantastic performance.
