LA LIGA

The Submarine’s courage counters Espanyol’s intensity

Villarreal CF kept its faith intact to secure a point, almost at the final whistle, on their visit to Espanyol (2-2) in a match where the Yellows were forced to comeback twice. The first through Trigueros on the 25th, while the second came with only three minutes to go with a header by Mateo Musacchio for first goal of the season. Marcelino’s men played a pragmatic and professional match, believed in their chances against a seasoned Espanyol who became an uncomfortable opponent stopping the Submarine during most of the game. With today’s draw, Villarreal has gone eight matches without losing in La Liga since last November against Getafe.
