The Villarreal CF Manager, Fran Escribá, was satisfied with his team’s performance at the La Rosaleda stadium. The Submarine picked up their first win in LaLiga and are still undefeated in the domestic competition after three games. “The team defended solidly. This match was similar to previous ones in terms of our organization and work rate, but this time we were more clinical up front”, he commented.
According to the Manager, the team showed how solid they are at the back as the game went on: “In the second half we defended very well. I am really happy with the players’ work rate. They’ve done really well from Monday through to Saturday. Watching this team train convinces you that they’re going to compete very well. If we play like this, I am convinced we’ll get many more wins”.
Escribá also commented on the return of Cheryshev and Jonathan to the Submarine: “I’m happy because the team has to know how to play in different formations. Players like Jonathan and Cheryshev are not ready to play 90 minutes and I would prefer to have them fresh for the last half an hour. It is important to have options. We will have to make changes on Thursday against Zürich”.
