Unai Emery underlined the difficult of the match against the Valencian side, and emphasised that it is a key moment in the season

Villarreal head coach Unai Emery appeared in front of the media to analyse Matchday 30 of the LaLiga season, where the Submarine will visit the Ciutat de València (Saturday, 4:15pm CET). The Basque head coach underlined the importance of managing the group well in the closing stages of the season, the match against Levante and the support from the fans. Here are the standout quotes from the Villarreal head coach:

International break

“You have more time to prepare for the match, but at the same time, you don’t have the whole group. The collective message was launched today. Everyone has different mental circumstances, and we have to get them focused again. The group who were here are the most focused. Today, we had a collective chat to get focused again, to see what we want, and what we need.”

A crucial tie against Levante

“Tomorrow, it’s a great game. I can’t wait for it to come to see how we play, and if we’re clinical. We want to be a team who play with a lot of personality, and to be capable of resisting Levante. They have a good team, and they made good signings like Mustafi and Martín Cáceres. They also have good footballers like Roger and Morales. They’re a team that I like and I respect Levante a lot.”

600 Yellows fans at the Ciutat de València

“Having the fans alongside the team always helps because players feel the support. I like the fans to come, I also have some responsibility for them to feel proud of us, in terms of how we play and the attitude we show on the pitch. I’m very thankful for the fans for travelling. They also send us a message that they want to live these key moments with Villarreal, not only the Champions League tie, but also in LaLiga too.”

Closing stage of the season

“Faltan partidos de alto nivel y mucha exigencia. A mí me gusta retarnos y ver hasta donde podemos llegar. Tenemos un vestuario muy profesional y muy consciente de que estamos en un momento determinante, saben que lo que estamos consiguiendo el Champions tiene un reconocimiento, pero que LaLiga es es la vía principal para conseguir los objetivos”.

“There are top-level matches, that demand a lot. I like to challenge us and see where we can get to. We have a very professional dressing room, and I am very confident that we are in a key moment. We know that what we’re doing in the Champions League receives recognition, but that LaLiga is the main path to fulfil our objectives.”
