The Villarreal B head coach expects a tight game against Algeciras as they search for the three points

Villarreal B head coach Miguel Álvarez appeared in front of the media to analyse the upcoming match against Algeciras (Sunday, 12pm CET), corresponding to Matchday 18 of Primera RFEF Group 2. Here are the main aspects of what the Mini Submarine manager had to say:

The opposition

“Despite the absences, we’re going into the game excited to try and get the three points. We’re facing a teach who have a top-quality squad, they’re the fourth top scorers in the division, and like us, they want to be towards the top of the table, so they’ll definitely try and complicate things for us.”

Keys to the match

“We’re going to compete with a lot of players who don’t have a lot of experience in the league, so they need to show they talent and be at their best because they are going to participate, but hey need to control their emotions because they’re talented players. The keys to winning the match will be knowing how to control their strengths, in midfield and up front, so we need to know how to defend with the ball and be aware of their quick transitions. However, if we stick to our style and show our personality, we will make things difficult for them.”

Players featuring for the first team

“The absences include players who have gone up to the first team, we can’t have any complaints. On the contrary, it’s something we’re proud of because our objective, as well trying to do things well so we are towards the top of the table, is to form players for the first team, as we see is happening at the moment. We also are calm because we know that whoever players, we’ll always line up with a lot of talent.”

2022 objectives

“The important aims are the immediate ones, the short-team ones. Personally, my personal ambition is to continue enjoy this profession, something which is important because an ambition and energy projects onto the players, so they can continue to grow and are able to see what is necessary to get to the elite level of football. In terms of the sporting side of things, the objective isn’t related to finishing first, but forming players who can help the first team in the future.”
