The Villarreal Manager was happy and now wants to focus on the upcoming matches

Villarreal Manager, Fran Escribá, spoke after his side’s great match against Osasuna (3-1) and was satisifed with his team’s collective performance, although still cautious and with expectations to improve. “Although it wasn’t an all-round perfect performance on our part, there were more positives than negatives. We keep improving both on an individual and collective level. We’ve been capable of creating good one on one situations and have pulled off some difficult plays down the middle”, he analyzed.

“To see four goals go in in the first half isn’t normal and I thought there were going to be more goals in the second. I thought Osasuna would take more risks and we’d be able to look to play behind their defence more. We managed the game well”, the Manager affirmed.

With regard to his team’s growing performance, he was happy, but explained that, “you get the marks at the end of the season”. He is only thinking about the upcoming matches and not their six game unbeaten run. “I don’t think much about going undefeated in the league. I just think about what’s next. Winning in Bucharest would leave us in a great situation”.

Musacchio’s absence

On the topic of Mateo Musacchio’s absence, Escribá said that he had a niggle in his groin in the morning training session, but nothing serious. “As Álvaro is fit there was no point in taking any risks. If it had been a deciding match we could have taken the risk, but it wasn’t worth it”, he concluded.
