The Villarreal Manager warns that it will not be at all easy to beat Osasuna (Sunday, 6:30pm)

Villarreal Manager, Fran Escribá, insisted that one of the most important aspects for Sunday’s match against Osasuna (6:30pm CET) will be for his players not to get too excited, taking into account that the Submarine are coming off the back of a draw against the LaLiga Santander leaders, Real Madrid, as they face the team at the bottom of the table. “The players are focused on the Osasuna match. We have to control this state of elation. We’re playing against a team that’s hurting right now and that have had chances in every match. We will need the support of our fans”.

According to Fran Escribá, the team will have to play very well to get the three points at El Madrigal: “We want to be at the top of the table, although we know that we’re going to suffer every game. I told my players that draws don’t serve us now. We will have to give 100% because it’s not going to be easy. We need to have a faultless performance to go in front and suffer a bit less. Osasuna are not going to give us any space to work with, with 4 or 5 in defence. We must make sure they don’t take advantage of our errors and have patience”.

The Manager said that he might make changes to the starting eleven with respect to the clash at the Bernabéu: “On Wednesday I didn’t make as many changes as people were expecting. I will always put out the eleven I believe will perform the best for that match. I will only rotate if I think that a player is fatigued and won’t be able to play to their maximum ability. We can’t dismiss any style of play. If you play with Cheryshev and Castillejo, we will be more vertical, quicker and more direct. But having different types of players we can’t dismiss any style”.

To finish, Fran Escribá praised the talent of one of his stand out players at the start of this season: “Trigueros is a very good player and a great professional. An exceptional player. I hope he continues to play at the level he’s playing at. If he does, he’ll be closer to the national team with Mario and Bruno”.
