Villarreal rolls up its sleeves to achieve a goalless draw against Granada

The Submarine and Granada CF drew 0-0 in the third round of the Liga BBVA. The match saw the Yellows trying to control the game, but both sides worked very hard to earn a well deserved reward. Both teams were missing a big number of players, with Villarreal having to cope with the absence of the two starting strikers and senior leftbacks (Adrián Marín, a 17 year old young talent from the Academy took over the starting leftback position yesterday, making his first “Primera” appearance).

Marcelino’s men showed a lot of courage and tried their best to create chances during the entire match, but the game became more and more streched over time. Gabriel had one of the scoring chances of the night, heading a ball from a corner kick served by Espinosa. Around the minute 75, Sergio Asenjo also showed his enormous quality with an outstanding save and reflexes. He performed very well during all night and earned the “Mahou 5 Estrellas” Man Of The Match Award.

Points shared right before the Submarine’s début in the 2014-15 UEFA Europa League against German side Borussia Mönchengladbach (Borussia Park at 7 pm on Thursday 18th September). Best of luck team!
