Miguel Álvarez underlines that Villarreal B will have to give their all to get a win against the in-form Catalan side

Villarreal B manager Miguel Álvarez analysed this Saturday’s match (5pm CET, Mini Estadi) against UE Cornellà: “At the moment, they’re one of our strongest opponents in the league, in December, they made a few changes in the squad, and they’ve strengthened well. In the last 16 games, they’ve only lost once. they’re unbeaten in their last eight games and have only conceded two goals, so it will be a very difficult match. We know that we need to do a lot of things if we want to win, but we are aware that we’re strong at home and we want to make the most of that.”

Villarreal B were unable to beat CD Ebro in their last match, and ended their run of seven games without defeat. The Mini Submarine boss has examined their current form: “The truth is that we’re happy with the players’ response after the CD Ebro game, we knew it was going to be a very difficult match. It’s hard to be a young team and play away in the second half of the season. The other day, a lot of things came together, but we’re happy with the team’s work.”

Finally, Álvarez underlined the importance of set pieces in games that are as tight as Saturday’s: “During the week, we’ve told them about the opponents and they’re players, and we’ve been working hard. Set pieces are one of their strong points, but it was also the same for CD Ebro, and they had to find other ways to beat us. We are focused on our own team and what we need to do, and from their we look at the upcoming opponent to apply relevant knowledge to our training sessions.”
