Toko Ekambi, who now has 14 goals, took centre stage in the win against Rayo with a quick brace

In the blink of an eye, Karl Toko Ekambi had everyone at the Estadio de la Cerámica on their feet with two fabulous strikes. The French-Cameroonian striker needed just one minute and 46 seconds to turn around the tie, which until that moment saw Rayo Vallecano winning by the smallest of margins. His two goals were the quickest brace in this season’s LaLiga. After the Yellows No.17’s two strikes against Rayo, he now has 14 goals this season (six in LaLiga, five in the Copa del Rey and three in the Europa League).

Toko Ekambi’s goals laid the foundation for an important win against Rayo Vallecano (3-1) in a crucial match in the fight against relegation. “Getting a win was very important. We are really happy because it allows us to move a bit away from the bottom three. Now we have to rest for a week and head to Vigo with the idea of bringing the three points home,” underlined the Cameroon international in front of the Villarreal CF TV microphones.
