The forward is enjoying his first season in European competition
Villarreal CF forward José Luis Morales has appeared alongside Unai Emery in the pre-match press conference ahead of Matchday 1 of the UEFA Europa Conference League group stage against Lech Poznan.
His first time in Europe
“For the club it has always been important to play in European competition and, in recent years, they have participated at a high level. For me, as a debutant, it is also special and important because I want to continue to show my level and know if I am capable of it. I’m very excited and it’s a very big challenge on a personal level.”
First Spanish team to play in the Conference League
“We’re very excited. Playing in European competition gives prestige to the club and we want to achieve something important, but we must go step by step. The first objective is to be first in the group stage to avoid another play-off and to arrive with confidence at the final phase.”
Respect for Lech Poznan
“Any team can do you a lot of damage if you are not focused. They are the Polish champions and, even if they haven’t started well in their league, Europe is always an incentive that gives you extra motivation. If we’re not focused, they’ll make things difficult for us.”
Trust in the whole squad
“The team is in a good place, with a lot of confidence and wanting to continue the good start to the season. For the players it’s a good thing to have more than one game a week because it guarantees you playing time and feeling important. If we do well in the Conference we will have more games and more minutes. However, the most important thing is that in the dressing room we all feel very important and luckily we have a very complete squad.”

“I hope they continue to make the effort they are making to come to the Ciutat de València. The club makes a big effort to be there and they are a fundamental part of making the team feel comfortable.”
