The French defender has been positive about his evolution with the Submarine and the team’s good form
Villarreal CF defender Willy Kambwala appeared before the media this Wednesday to analyse the current situation of the Yellow Submarine, who are already preparing for the upcoming match against Valencia CF (Saturday, 9pm CET).
His personal situation
“I feel very good now. It’s true that I had a physical problem at the beginning, but now I can train every day and I feel very good. I like being able to train, play and help the team.”
The adaptation process and the message from Marcelino
“I needed time to adapt, to learn, to understand the tactics and adapt physically. I know I have the confidence of the coach and I think I have adapted well. It’s very important for any player to have the confidence of the head coach. I’m a young player and coming to Spain was very different in everything: training, matches, language, life…. But Marcelino has not put me under pressure and has given me time to adapt calmly. He told me that we were going to work together and not just him, but also the rest of the coaching staff and my team-mates.”
Changes between the Premier League and the Spanish league
“There are changes, above all, tactically. In the Premier League it’s much more direct, more one-on-one, there are more duels, for example. Here it is more important to play as a team, there is more ball, you have to defend all together or defend the space. And since I arrived, I’ve been willing to learn.”
The team-mates
“For me it’s very important that there are experienced players and young players in a team. Next to me I have Raúl Albiol, Juan Foyth, Eric Bailly or Dani Parejo, in midfield, who have a lot of experience and help me a lot on the pitch.”
The derby
‘”n every league, a derby is a derby, and we have to win. Valencia CF are a great team too. A derby is a derby and everyone is very excited and mentally prepared. We know it’s a very important game and we have to win it, because it’s a derby and because it’s our moment. We’re winning a lot of games and we want to continue like this.”
The objectives
“The objective with the team is to finish the season as high as possible in the league and, if possible, next season to play in the Champions League. We are all going to do what we can. I want to play as much as possible to learn more, gain experience and help the team.”
Happy at Villarreal CF
“I’m happy now and when I arrived. Coming here is the best decision for me and for my career, and to progress in football. I want to keep training, playing, doing well and I’m very happy here.”
