Yellows Pepe Castaño and Fonda lift the cup for Spain after beating Argentina (3-1)

Yesterday the Spain U20 national team, represented by Yellows Academy players Pepe Castaño and David Fondarella, were crowned champions of the COTIF (L’Alcúdia International Football Tournament) after beating Argentina (3-1). Centre back Pepe Castaño started the match and played almost the entire encounter, putting in a great performance. While Fonda came on in the second half of the Final.

Argentina went ahead in the first half, but the Reds fought for the equaliser. After the break, manager Luis de la Fuente changed things up, his team still in search of the equaliser. In the last play, one minute from the final whistle, Jordan scored to tie the game and take the match into extra time.

In extra time, Argentina showed what they were made of and had several chances to take the lead again, but it was Spain who converted their chances. Goals from Joel Rodríguez and Buñuel put the game to bed for Spain and made them COTIF champions once again, three years since their last victory.
