The French forward praised coach Marcelino García Toral for the trust that he has placed in him
Villarreal CF presented Thierno Barry as a new Yellows player on Thursday. Accompanied by sporting director, Miguel Ángel Tena, the French forward appeared in front of the media in the press room at the Estadio de la Cerámica.
“I felt a connection to the fans from the start. In the match, when I went out to warm up, I heard the fans shouting my name and I felt connected to them as I stepped onto the pitch. I am a player who thrives off emotion and I believe that that was clear, as with my first touch I was able to score.”
When asked about his objectives, he stated that his main aim is to show his best level. “My objective is to give the best of myself and score goals. I can’t say a number of goals, but I want to write my own history at the club. And I also want to improve defensively, above all in pressing, to help the team. I have it clear in my mind that the objective is to help the team achieve as many points as possible.”
He then went on to praise the coaching staff and Marcelino García Toral for the help that they have given him: “It is the first time that it has happened to me that I am listening to a coach and it is a pleasure, because every time he corrects me or the team, I learn a lot. I have also done a number of individual sessions with Marcelino and that shows that he trusts me. The truth is that coming to Villarreal CF was the best decision.”
Tena: “We were looking for a young player with attacking presence”
Villarreal sporting director, Miguel Ángel Tena, joined the player for his official presentation as a Groguet player: “With Alexander Sorloth leaving, we were looking for a young player who had an attacking presence. Barry is a player who gives us options in the air, both defending and attacking, who plays well with his back to goal and who stands out for his ability in front of goal. We already saw against Celta Vigo how in a short amount of time he was able to create a number of big chances and score a goal. He is young, but very important for us for the club’s identity.”
