The Submarine end the 2025/26 season with 72 goals in LaLiga EA Sports, their best-ever record in the top flight
Villarreal CF have set another goalscoring record in the club’s Primera División history during the 2025/26 season. With 72 goals scored across the 38 LaLiga EA Sports matchdays, the Yellow Submarine have surpassed last season’s own record to register the best attacking tally in their entire history in Spanish football’s top division. An average of 1.89 goals per match speaks volumes about the attacking power of Marcelino García Toral’s side.
The third-highest scoring team in LaLiga
The numbers place Villarreal among the most prolific teams in the national championship. With 72 goals, the Submarine finished as the third-highest scoring side in LaLiga EA Sports 2025/26, behind only FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Among the season’s 72 goals, some will remain unforgettable. The five-goal haul against Girona on Matchday 2 (5-0), featuring Buchanan’s historic hat-trick. The emphatic victory over Levante (5-1) that secured Champions League qualification. And the 5-1 triumph against Atlético de Madrid on the final day, with a brace from Ayoze and goals from Parejo, Mikautadze and Gueye, which put the finishing touch on a historic season and sealed third place in LaLiga.
Goals, a shared responsibility
A collective contribution is essential to becoming the highest-scoring team in Villarreal CF history. The 72 goals scored this season cannot be understood without the combined efforts of a committed and dedicated squad.
The leading figure in the opposition box has been Georges Mikautadze, who finished as the Submarine’s top scorer with an outstanding total of 13 goals. The striker’s instinct was perfectly complemented by two luxury supporting acts who both reached the prestigious mark of 10 goals: the magic, flair and attacking drive of Alberto Moleiro, and the relentless instinct of club legend Gerard Moreno.
A constant throughout the club’s best years
A look back through Villarreal’s history shows that whenever the Submarine have competed near the top of the table, goals have always been on their side. In the runners-up season (2007/08), Pellegrini’s team finished with 65 goals. During the return to Europe under Marcelino (2013/14), the Yellows reached 68 goals. Last season, when Champions League qualification was secured, the tally rose to 71. And now, in 2025/26, the counter stands at 72. The highest-scoring Villarreal CF in history. A record signed by a team that has not only broken its own ceiling, but has once again shown that in elite football, consistency and talent always leave their mark.
