Manu Trigueros has increased his status as a Villarreal CF legend. The midfielder has become the player with most matches for the club in history. After appearing against Lech Poznan, the first match of the UEFA Europa Conference League Group Stage, he has has played his 426th match as a Yellows player, overtaking Bruno Soriano, with whom he shared until today the honour of being the Yellow with most games played for the match, which had been the case since the last matchday of the 2021/22 season. The Yellows No.14 reached this great achievement wearing the captain’s armband at the Ciutat de València.

Formed in the Yellows Academy, Trigueros has reached this impressive number aged just 30 years old. The Yellows No.14, who has been with the first team for ten seasons, made his debut against Real Madrid Castilla (2-1) in Segunda División on 17th August 2012.

As a Villarreal player, Trigueros lifted the club’s first ever UEFA Europa League, as well as becoming one of the first-team captains and a star player over the past decade.

The 426 matches he has played are 293 in LaLiga, 53 in the UEFA Europa League, 36 in Segunda División, 31 in the Copa del Rey, 11 in the UEFA Champions League, one in the UEFA Super Cup and one in the UEFA Europa Conference League.
