The appearance of the Catalan striker was the big surprise of the ‘Our final’ documentary

After the spectacular premiere of the ‘La final de nuestras vidas’ (‘Our final’), which took place in style at the Plaza Mayor in Vila-real, Villarreal ended the event with a big surprise: Gerard Moreno has renewed his contract with the club until 2027.

Emulating the famous television programme The Masked Singer, the Catalan striker, dressed as Groguet – the Villarreal mascot – before revealing his true identity to announce to the fans that he will continue writing history alongside the Yellows.

Gerard will continue to write history with Villarreal

Villarreal have reached an agreement with Gerard Moreno to extend his contract with the Yellows until June 2027.

The Catalan striker will therefore continue to smash records with the Submarine. He is only one goal from being the lone top goalscorer in Villarreal history. With 82 goals, he is currently sharing that honour with Yellows legend Giuseppe Rossi.

Gerard has played a total of 184 matches with the Yellows. His achievements as a ‘groguet’ have led to him being a regular international with Spain, with whom he featured in Euro 2020.

Last season, the Catalan striker broke all records, scoring a total of 30 goals and being one of the big reasons behind Villarreal lifting their first UEFA Europa League, the biggest achievement in the club’s history.

A footballer with Villarreal DNA

Gerard Moreno was born in Santa Perpètua de Mogoda, Barcelona, on 7th April 1992. The talented 29-year-old footballer joined Villarreal’s academy in the summer of 2010, where he joined the U19s (Juvenil A), scoring more than 30 goals in his first season, even making his debut with Villarreal B in the second tier of Spanish football that year.
