The midfielder has now met up with the team in Austria

André-Frank Zambo Anguissa has met up with Villarreal CF for the pre-season in Kufsteinerland, Austria. The most recent Yellows signing arrived to the Panorama Royal Hotel in Bad Häring, where he has now met his new team-mates and the coaching staff.

The Cameroonian gave his first interview to the club: “Spanish football is up there with the best in the world and Villarreal is a big club. I like the club’s style, with players who have great technical ability. I think it makes it an attractive style of football. I help to be able to help the club as much as possible,” underlined the defender, who defines himself as “a player who tries to win the ball in the middle of the pitch and hopes to bring balance to the team in defence and attack.”

The 23-year-old, who has arrived on loan from Fulham FC, explained that his compatriot Karl Toko Ekambi and Villarreal’s interest were key to make the decision to wear yellow: “I spoke to Toko Ekambi about Villarreal when we were in the Africa Cup of Nations with Cameroon and he spoke very positively about the team, the club, the city, the surroundings, etc, as well as the squad, which has a lot of talent, experience and potential. The club showed a lot of interest in me and that motivated me to come here. I’m very happy to play in LaLiga. It’s a very important opportunity for me and I will work as hard as possible to be at my best.”
