The Canarian forward scores four goals to guide Villarreal to an impressive win over Espanyol

Villarreal are full of confidence. The Yellows defeated Espanyol (5-1) with the stellar performance of Yeremy Pino, who scored four goals in a historic victory over the Perico side. Unai Emery’s side dominated the game and showed that they are enjoying one of their best periods of football in recent seasons. The fans ended up doing the Mexican wave at the Estadio de la Cerámica.

After last Tuesday’s great effort against Juventus, Unai Emery opted to refresh the starting eleven, bringing on Serge Aurier, Pervis Estupiñán, Manu Trigueros and Yeremy Pino. Villarreal started the game with intensity and clear intent. From the opening whistle, the home side took possession of the ball and looked for the goal occupied by Diego López, an old acquaintance of the yellow parish.

The Submarine were in a hurry to take the lead on the scoreboard. Indeed, in the first clear-cut chance of the game, Yeremy rose above Cabrera to head home an excellent cross from the left by Pervis Estupiñán.

Just seven minutes later, the Canary Islands striker was on target again from a corner. The ball fell to Capoue, in the corner of the six-yard box, he controlled the ball and, with his back to goal, he gave the ball to Yeremy Pino to score with a low, accurate shot. Villarreal were 2-0 up within minutes.

It was proving to be a spectacular day for young Yeremy Pino, who just before half-time scored his first hat-trick as a professional footballer. The Canaries striker capitalised on Diego Lopez’s parry from Capoue’s fierce shot across goal to score his third of the afternoon. In celebration of the goal, the Estadio de la Cerámica erupted with joy for the young star.

Despite the margin of the scoreline, Villarreal did not take their foot off the gas. On the return from the changing rooms, Manu Trigueros filtered an excellent ball into space looking for the speed of Danjuma, who with a subtle touch passed to Yeremy to dribble past Diego López and beat RCD Espanyol for the fourth time. The Canary Islands striker made history and became the only player in Villarreal’s history to score four goals in a single LaLiga match. Unbelievable.

There was still more than half an hour to go and RCD Espanyol were not going to give up. In the 65th minute, Bare pulled one back from a corner.

The fans ended the match with a standing ovation at the Estadio de la Cerámica. With five minutes to go, Boulaye Dia scored the fifth goal with a great low finish after receiving a fantastic assist in space from Moi Gómez. The Yellows lived an afternoon to remember, enjoying watching Villarreal, who stepped up the pace in the fight for the European places.
