Étienne Capoue (Niort, France, 11/07/1988) is a powerful defensive midfielder with great ball-recovery instincts. Thanks to his physicality, he is a threatening player in the air. Amongst his other strengths are his excellent positional skills and his long passing. Despite being a defensive player, he can also contribute to the attack.
The French midfielder joined Villarreal from Watford FC in January 2021. In his first season as a Yellow, he helped the club to win its first ever Europa League trophy, also winning the Man of the Match award in the final. The Frenchman has also played for FC Toulouse and Tottenham Hotspur.
