The forward made his official debut for Villarreal’s men’s first team yesterday

Fer Niño yesterday fulfilled his dream of debuting with the Villarreal men’s fist team. The striker (24/10/00, Rota), took to the pitch in the 75th minute, replacing Pau Torres in the Copa del Rey Round of 32 against Girona FC at Montilivi. Niño already played for the Yellows in pre-season, but made his first appearance in official competition against Girona.

“From when you start your career, your biggest dream is to make your debut with a LaLiga team. I can say that I’ve done that. Now I just need to keep working,” he said after the Yellows’ 0-3 win against the Catalan outfit.

He joined the club in the 2015/16 season and he has constantly grown as a player, shining with the U19s who last year won the league and the U19s Copa del Rey. He is currently playing for Villarreal C in Tercera división. The young forward is the son of Fernando Niño, who played for teams such as Elche CF and RCD Mallorca.

In regard to the trust placed in him by first-team manager Javi Calleja, the striker could only show his gratitude: “The gaffer told me to do what I need to do and to not be nervous. I’m focused on my team, which is Villarreal C, and if Calleja needs me, I’ll be ready.”
