The Qatari striker will play for the Asturian side for the 2016/17 season
Villarreal CF and Real Sporting de Gijón have come to an agreement for Qatari striker Akram Afif, who will play on loan for the Asturian side for the 2016/17 season. The agreement between both clubs does not involve an option to buy the player.
The Qatar forward is one of the most promising young players in his country, whom he represented at all age groups before making his debut for the Senior national team at just 19 years old.
Formed in the ranks of the Aspire Academy, he moved to Al Sadd in 2013 and in 2014 was loaned to KAS Eupen in the Belgium second division, la Proximus League, for two seasons. Last season he scored six goals, helping the team to win promotion to the Jupiler League, the Belgian top flight.
