Villarreal CF heads to Malta to hold first-ever camp on the island this autumn
Villarreal CF continues to expand the international reach of its Villarreal Academy project with the organisation of its first official camp in Malta. The Villarreal CF Camp Malta 2026 will take place from 31st October to 3rd November, offering young boys and girls the opportunity to experience the club’s renowned training methodology without having to leave the island.
The four-day camp held at the Gżira Football Grounds will bring the Villarreal CF methodology directly to Malta, giving local players the opportunity to train under the guidance of Villarreal CF coaches from Spain. Participants will experience training sessions based on the same principles and development philosophy implemented throughout the club’s youth academy and two players will be selected to participate in an official Villarreal CF tournament in Spain.
This initiative arrives at a time when Malta is experiencing growing interest and investment in youth sport, particularly in football. The Villarreal Academy project aims to contribute to this development by connecting Maltese football with international expertise and creating new opportunities for young players to access high-level coaching and international exposure.
The organisers behind the project have followed Villarreal CF for a number of years and see the club’s development model as especially relevant to Maltese football. Despite representing a relatively small city, Villarreal CF has consistently developed players capable of competing at the highest levels of European football, demonstrating the importance of methodology, coaching and long-term players development.
Speaking about the partnership, the organisers explained: “We have followed Villarreal CF for a number of years, and the appeal was never only about the results. A club from a small town continues to produce players who reach the very top of the European game, season after season, and that consistency is not luck. That is Villarreal’s proven methodology, and that is exactly what interests us.”
Thus, the Villarreal CF Camp Malta represents the first step in a wider vision for the development of the project in the country. While the focus is currently firmly on delivering the first camp, there are already plans to explore ways of bringing Villarreal CF’s methodology into Maltese football on a more permanent basis in the future.
Brandon Páramo, Villarreal CF International Business Manager, is pleased with the launch of the club’s first camp in Malta: “We are happy to bring the Villarreal Academy project to Malta for the first time. We know there is a real passion for football on the island and a strong interest in developing young players. This camp is a great opportunity for boys and girls to experience our methodology first-hand, and we hope it can be the beginning of a positive relationship with Maltese football.”
The camp will be open to both boys and girls aged U7 to U14. Final training groups will be organised according to registrations in order to provide participants with the most appropriate training environment.
