Villarreal CF has paid special tribute to Santi Comesaña after surpassing the milestone of 100 official matches for the club.
Villarreal legend and current club ambassador Marcos Senna presented him with a commemorative shirt in the build-up to the match against the Catalan side, while the Yellow supporters gave a loud ovation to a player who, since his arrival in 2023, has become an important and much‑admired member of the Submarine.
A key figure in the current Villarreal side
Santiago Comesaña Veiga (Nigrán, Pontevedra, 5 October 1996) is a box-to-box midfielder known for his work rate and generosity in effort. Under Marcelino, he has become one of the great leaders of this Submarine.
As a Yellow, Santi Comesaña has played 104 games for Villarreal, scoring 11 goals and providing four assists. Of those matches, 82 have come in LALIGA, eight in the Champions League, seven in the Europa League and seven in the Copa del Rey.
The Galician midfielder is the fifth player in the current squad with the most appearances for Villarreal, behind only captains Gerard Moreno (311), Dani Parejo (257), Alfonso Pedraza (224) and Juan Foyth (153).
