Villarreal CF reinforce their forward line with the arrival of the powerful French forward
Villarreal CF and FC Basel have reached an agreement to sign Thierno Barry on a five-year deal until June 2029.
The French-Guinean footballer will complete his first training session alongside his new team-mates this Thursday, ahead of the match against Sevilla FC: The official presentation of the new player will take place next week. The club will announce the details of this act, which will be exclusively open to the media.
Power, youth and goalscoring prowess
Thierno Mamadou Barry (Lyon, France, 21st October 2002) is a versatile forward, whose speed and power are two of greatest strengths. He is primarily a striker, but he can play on the right, as well as the left, cutting in on his right foot.
At just 21 years of age, Barry has earned himself an excellent reputation in Swiss football in recent months. During his time at FC Basel, he scored 20 goals and recorded five assists in 41 appearances, after arriving in July 2023.
What’s more, he has started the 2024/25 season brilliantly, with five goals in the first three fixtures of the Swiss Super League season.
Prior to moving to Switzerland, he played for SK Beveren in the Belgian second division. His statistics in his 33 appearances were similarly impressive, as he found the back of the net 20 times and registered five assists. He has also played for SC Toulon and FC Sochaux.
