The Catalan defender joins on a free transfer and will play for the Yellows until June 2027
Villarreal CF have reached an agreement with Sergi Cardona, who joins the Submarine as a free agent and will play for the Yellows for the next three seasons, until June 2027.
The Catalan defender has completed his medical this morning and will train with his new team-mates for the first time as a Villarreal CF player, before travelling to France with his new team-mates for the training camp in Divonne-les-Bains (France).
An impressive breakthrough in LALIGA
Sergi Cardona Bermúdez (Lloret de Mar, 8th July 1999) is a young and talented full-back of an attacking nature, who has a great ability to move on the ball and contribute to his team’s playing style. Among his stand-out qualities are his pace, ability for anticipation and winning back the ball in defence.
Last season he was one of the breakthrough players of LALIGA EA Sports after his impressive performances with UD Las Palmas, the club with which he made his debut in the top flight after spending various seasons with them in the second tier.
Formed in the Gimnàstic de Tarragona academy, Cardona joined the side from the Canary Islands to play for their B team after a few seconds with CF Pobla de Mamufet.
